International Outdoor Learning Day

We celebrated International Outdoor Learning Day on 18th May, a day celebrated by schools across the world. We were very grateful that it was the 18th, with lovely warm weather,  and not the 17th where it rained continuously for the whole day!

All the children had the opportunity to use our new den building kit, with some interesting structures created. KS1 children used the outdoors for inspiration for some super poetry, River Class used the natural resources around the field when making bookmarks and creating some interesting symmetrical patterns. In Ocean Class the children firstly demonstrated their knowledge of fractions by collecting natural resources and working out fraction sums. They were then inspired by the calm and quiet outside area to write descriptive poetry. They too enjoyed some den building.

It was the perfect day to have our new addition to The Whispering Willows: an amazing rustic table made by John Saxon. It is a wonderful feature to go in our outdoor learning area and we would like to express our thanks to John.
