Our Governors

Our Governors have an important role to play across the 3 key areas:

  •    Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
  •    Holding the Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, and the      performance management of staff
  •    Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent

To effectively carry out these responsibilities, our Governors are committed to on-going professional development. This commitment is demonstrated in our intention for all Governors to receive training in the following 5 key areas:

1.    Governors Induction

2.    Monitoring visits

3.    Safeguarding and child protection

4.    Support and challenge

5.    Understanding performance data (specific for lower schools)

Where Governors have “specific” Link Governor responsibilities, our intention is for those Governors to receive specific training relating to those roles – i.e. Finance and Attendance.
